James Halliday Wine Companion
James Halliday is an Australian wine writer and critic, winemaker, and senior wine competition judge. Since 1986 he has published an annual overview of Australian wines which (since 2000) has been entitled "James Halliday Annual Wine Companion". This is similar to the Michelin Guide for food that's to the wines in Australia.
Ernest Hill Wines continues to be ranked as a 5-star winery. Some outstanding red wines and premium wines are available for Singapore customers.
- Two Shiraz: the 2017 William Henry Shiraz and 2014 CEO Shiraz has each scored 95 points gold, which represents the status of outstanding. These two Shiraz are collectible Shiraz that are among some of the best in the varietal.
- One Cabernet Sauvignon: the 2017 CEO Cabernet Sauvignon, scores 92 points. You can either drink it now ( a value-for-money "drink now" CAB SAV) or keep it for a few years for aging which will add a premium to your collection.
Other wines, the 2016 Shareholder Shiraz scores 87 points; the 2018 Dam Merlot has not been rated, but the 2017 Merlot had 88 points.
For the white wines, all of our current listings with the year of vintage have not been rated, but the 2018 Cyril Semillon scores 95 points while we carry 2017 Semillon. The 2017 Rosalie Joan Verdelho scores 86 points while we have the 2018 vintage. The 2017 Chicken Shed Chardonnay scores 89 points while the listed Chardonnay is from the 2019 vintage.
